About LegalLIZ

Meet the founders.

For a decade, Chia trained lawyers on technology — first in the junior rooms, then higher up. In the junior rooms, paralegals and legal assistants; She saw women everywhere. By the time she was sitting across from partners and decision-makers, they were gone. She was often the only Black woman in the room, talking to a group of men about the future of their firm.

Her sister, Chinenye, is a lawyer, so she started at home asking why. Why do brilliant women enter law and retire in the same role they started in? She interviewed nearly a hundred other women lawyers, and the answer kept repeating: burnout from the first year through the fifteenth, no real mentorship, and a choice nobody should have to make between ambition and their lifestyle.

Chia and Chinenye built LegalLIZ as the answer to that. Nothing in this profession was built with women in mind — so we're building it ourselves.

Meet the foundersChia and Chinenye on why LegalLIZ exists.

"Women need to create spaces for women, because we understand our pain points, our life cycles, our own clocks. Imagine a world where all of that is considered — and you're thriving. That's what we're aiming to build"
